Weekly Thursday Noon Prayers – 4th June 2020

At our Cornwall Faith Forum projects meeting last week, we discussed to do a monthly virtual “Thursday Noon Readings and Prayers” on the first Thursday of each month.

This Thursday will be the first one and will be a trial. Please email Rita on dorkemmyn.rita@btinternet.com if you would like to join the Zoom meeting.

Sophie has kindly offered a Buddhist prayer for this week (see below) – we will also read prayers offered by Oulfat and Qudsia for Eid and we will finish with the UN peace prayer. There will be time to send love and strength to anyone who needs it.

May I be a guard for those who need protection,

A guide for those on the path,
A boat, a raft, a bridge for those who wish to cross the flood.
May I be a lamp in the darkness,
A resting place for the weary,
A healing medicine for all who are sick
A vase of plenty, a tree of miracles.
And for the boundless multitudes of living beings
May I bring sustenance and awakening,
Enduring like the earth and sky
Until all beings are freed from sorrow
And all are awakened.

Shantideva, C8th

*performed daily by the Dalai Lama

As long as space endures,
as long as sentient being remain,
until then, may I too remain
and dispel the miseries of the world.
