Interfaith Week – 9th-15th November 2025 – Pilot school lesson visit to Peace Poles

During Interfaith Week the Cornwall Faith Forum were delighted to have a visit to the Peace Poles from pupils at Truro School Prep.  Revd Helen Byrne, Chaplain, said  “I find the peace poles a stunning and moving illustration of how all world views share a common passion for peace and harmony in our world.

I love the mixture of faith communities and organisations in Cornwall working together for that shared vision, and underpinned by a welcoming culture.

As a Methodist ‘all are welcome’ is part of my DNA and something I treasure about my world view and faith association.

But I think it is something we are all striving to attain – as God welcomes all so should we, respecting one another, accepting one another as we are and coming together to celebrate the diversity that enriches our world.

I think there could be a whole education programme around these Peace Poles on the Dor Kemmyn Common Ground.”

One of the pupils said “As soon as we arrived at the Peace Poles I saw so many poles with writings and symbols that I had never seen. There was a pole that said ‘welcome’ on it. We all went to each pole with the person from that faith group including  Islam, Bahai, Buddhist, Hinduism, plus the United Nations and much more.
