Buddhist Prayers for Peace, in honour of Hiroshima Day, Sunday 6th August at 2.00 pm, Truro
All are welcome to join prayers from the Buddhist tradition for peace on Sunday 6th August at 2.00 pm at the Dor Kemmyn Peace Field, Penmount, Truro.
How can we build an active peace in this world?
For practitioners on the Path, whether Buddhist or of other faiths, or no faith, this begins within, in the mind:
With a heart which understands all beings wish to be happy and not to suffer.
The heart of compassion and loving kindness, our true nature.
“ … war is obsolete, you know …
Of course the mind can rationalize fighting back…but the heart, the heart would never understand for it.
Then you would be divided in yourself, the heart and the mind, and the war would be inside you.”
( His Holiness XVIV Dalai Lama )
We will also clean the Peace Poles together and make paper cranes inspired by Sadako Sasaki, who made 1,000 cranes while dying of Leukaemia, caused by radiation from the atomic bomb.
