Weekly Thursday Noon Prayers – 20th August 2020

Cornwall Faith Forum sends love and strength to everyone in Cornwall.

August is the time of Lammas and Eve from the Pagan community in Cornwall kindly send us an introduction to Lammas and a blessing:

This is the time of Lughnasadh, or Lammas. This is the festival of First Harvest. This is the time when we begin to reap what we have sown. We see the fruits of seed of projects we have sown. Summer reigns in glory around us, fruits glow like jewels in fields and hedgerows, the fields are golden with grain; and yet in the midst of all this life we see the first fruits of death – the sacrifice of the corn and the barley at harvest time to make bread and beer. Here we come to understand the paradoxical nature of sacrifice – that only by letting go, or giving up, can we transform and more to a higher, deeper, more creative level.

A Lammas Blessing

Blessings of the ripe wheat to us and the world

Blessings of the autumn fruits to us and the world

Blessings of the fruitful harvest to us and the world

Every enchantment and blessing and power

Be yielded to us in this and every hour

May blessings be ours and the world’s and may it well befall us.
